Once we have the carving and the name panel layout complete, (the name panel is a box that the family name would
be placed into to provide better color contrast of the lettering) the information is sent from the computer to a plotter
(on left) which cuts the design into a rubberized stencil. This process, at one time, could only be done
by hand, and would take a lot of time. This computerized method produces the same high quality stencil cutting in a
fraction of the time. Some designs require special attention, and must be cut by hand by one of our professionals.
Next, we apply the stencil to the stone after many careful measurements have been made. The stencil has an extremely
adhesive backing to hold it in place. Then the carving and the name panel are removed from the stencil for the
next step (see pictures on right).
